Paintings of places we stop being separate: From the water, the stars, and each other
Water and color were my way in: moving through every living thing, carrying memory, incubating transformation. From there the work opened outward into landscapes, coral reefs, and night skies. Whether I’m working at the scale of a wave or a galaxy, I’m after the same thing: recognizing how the self is connected to all other things: fluid, interdependent, and adaptable.
That search led me to working with recycled plastic and creating home decor by melting and reforming this often discarded material into something meant to be kept.

Original monarch butterfly diptych by Scout Cuomo
Mid-September in Western Mass, the fields turn gold and violet, and then they fill with wings. The monarchs that come out of their chrysalises now are unlike the generations before them. Where their parents lived only a few weeks, this last brood of summer, called the Methuselah generation after the longest-lived man in the Bible, can live for eight months, and they spend these days drinking from goldenrod and asters, storing up the fat that will carry them nearly three thousand miles to the mountain forests of central Mexico, a place none of them has ever seen.
These two paintings were made inside that feast: one field across two panels, a season of mass migration held still for a moment. They are a reminder of how precious this ecosystem is, and that the ordinary meadows at the edges of our roads and farms are fueling stations for one of the great journeys on Earth.

She is a swimmer of cosmic waters—floating where ocean becomes universe, where the surface turns into a galaxy of light.
A figure drifts beneath a radiant veil of color: electric blues, magentas, violets, and sunburst golds ripple like auroras across a starlit tide. The waterline fractures reality into shimmering layers, so the body feels both present and dissolving—held in suspension between breath and infinity. Specks of white read as sea-foam and constellations at once, turning the scene into a portal: part night swim, part nebula, part dream.

A lone swimmer glides through radiant turquoise water as beams of light cascade from the surface, illuminating deep ocean blues, sea-glass greens, and warm golden reflections below. The scene is immersive and atmospheric—capturing that quiet, breath-held moment when the world becomes weightless and time slows down.
Inspired by cenotes, open water, and the awe of nature, this piece balances calm and vastness: shimmering surface textures above, soft shafts of light cutting into the depths, and painterly movement throughout.

This Studio is part of a growing collective of artists, makers, and designers who are seeking ways to address global plastic consumption and disposal. The answer isn't only in plastic reduction — it's in transforming the way we consider and use plastic as a throwaway material. By 3D printing recycled PETG — the same plastic that makes water bottles — into ornamental objects built to last generations, this work asks a different question: what if we treated plastic the way it was actually made to be treated? As a permanent material. As something worthy of care and craft.
