About This Work
I paint the threads that run between us. Water themes and color are a way in: moving through every living thing, carrying memory, and participating in transformation. From there the work opened outward into landscapes, coral reefs, and night skies. Whether I'm working at the scale of a wave or a galaxy, I'm after the same thing: recognition of connection of the self-ness to all other things.
Lately that search has led me to plastic. A new project is growing out of it, working with recycled plastics, melting and reforming what was discarded into something meant to be kept and respected more carefully. It's a reminder that our connection to the living world isn't only beautiful. It's physical, and it's ours to tend.
Reclaimed Plastic Made Fine Art
Scout Cuomo Studio is part of a growing collective of artists, makers, and designers who are seeking ways to address global plastic consumption and disposal. The answer isn't only in plastic reduction — it's in transforming the way we consider and use plastic as a throwaway material. By 3D printing recycled PETG — the same plastic that makes water bottles — into ornamental objects built to last generations, this work asks a different question: what if we treated plastic the way it was actually made to be treated? As a permanent material. As something worthy of care, of craft, of beauty.
