A commission starts with a Conversation

There are people worth celebrating, pets worth honoring, places you don't want to forget, and scenes that don't exist anywhere yet, waiting to be made.

A commissioned painting can hold these in colors that a picture can't quite achieve. It might be a portrait of people you love, beloved animals. It might be a place that matters: a place from childhood, a stretch of coastline, somewhere you want to return to. Or it might be something that doesn't exist yet. You don't need to arrive with a fully formed idea. A feeling, a memory, a color is enough to begin. This studio works in multiple mediums of painting and sculpture to create a work of art specific to you. Every commission starts with a conversation.

  • The process begins with a consultation — a conversation about your space, vision, and ideas. To get started, send an email with images of your space, approximate dimensions, and any color or reference images that speak to you. From there, a pricing estimate is prepared, and a one-third deposit secures the project and opens the sketching phase.

  • Within 2–4 weeks, I will create and share a sketch of your piece. Each commission includes two rounds of edits to ensure the design feels right. Once the sketch is approved, the second invoice is sent (another ⅓) and the painting begins.

    Paintings take 3–36 weeks depending on size and complexity. Along the way you'll receive snapshots as the work evolves — keeping the process collaborative and the painting true to your vision.

    When you're delighted with the result, the final invoice is sent for the remaining balance and shipping. Your painting ships fully insured — UPS domestically, DHL internationally — carefully wrapped and ready to hang. I'm always available by phone for any installation questions.

  • For something smaller and faster, Scout's Etsy shop carries original paintings with quicker turnaround — including an 8 × 10 framed painting and a 16 × 48 School of Fish. Paintings made from photographs take 3–8 weeks depending on complexity. The same care, in a more immediate format.
