With over ten years of experience, Scout Cuomo creates heirloom paintings celebrating families, meaningful experiences, beloved animals, and remembered places.
Working with Scout Cuomo means receiving dedicated support through each phase of your custom painting—from initial conversation to final completion. The process begins with a complimentary consultation to discuss your ideas, space, and vision. If it feels like a good fit, the project moves into the planning and sketch phase.
From Concept to Completion

Planning Phase
The process begins with a complimentary consultation to discuss your ideas, space, and vision. If it’s a good fit, the project moves into planning and sketching.
To begin, send an email with images of your space, approximate dimensions, color inspirations, and reference images. This information is used to create a pricing estimate.
After aligning on scope and size, a one-third deposit secures the project and the sketching phase begins.

Within 2–4 weeks, I will create and share a two draft sketches of your piece. Each commission includes two rounds of edits to ensure the design feels right. Once the sketch is approved, the second invoice is sent (another ⅓) and the painting begins.
-
Depending on the size and complexity of your project, paintings take 3–36 weeks to complete. Throughout this time, I’ll send occasional snapshots so you can see the work evolving. I love keeping this process collaborative — it’s a way to ensure the painting reflects your vision every step of the way.
-
When your painting is complete and you’re delighted with the result through images shared, I’ll send the final invoice for the remaining balance and shipping cost. Your artwork will be carefully wrapped and shipped insured via UPS to your home. DHL is used for international orders. I’m always available by phone to discuss any installation questions.
-
Payments are made in three installments via Venmo, check, or PayPal:
Deposit (⅓) – to begin the project and reserve your spot.
Second Payment (⅓) – after sketch approval.
Final Payment (⅓ + shipping) – upon completion and before delivery.

If you’re looking for something smaller, Scout offers small original paintings through ETSY that have a faster turn around time.

If you’re interested in having a painting made from a photograph, please note that those works require 3–8 weeks for creation depending on complexity and need for modification. These smaller originals carry the same care in a more immediate and accessible format.
